A Nine-Book Epic Fantasy
The Threnody of Embers
The Threnody of Embers is a nine-book epic fantasy series set in Aëtherra, a world shaped by old power, divided histories, and a magical order beginning to fail.
About the Series
Across kingdoms and continents, three lives unfold against the pressure of war, prophecy, duty, and truths buried too long. Each carries obligations they did not choose and moves through a world already straining beneath the weight of its own history.
At its heart, the series is about endurance: what people preserve when systems collapse, what loyalty costs when every choice carries consequence, and whether hope can survive long enough to become something more than belief.
The scale is vast, but the story remains human. Empires rise and strain. Dragons carry memory older than nations. Magic frays at the edges of the world. Yet history ultimately turns through the choices of people who are frightened, divided, flawed, and still capable of choosing one another.
The World of Aëtherra
Aëtherra is a world shaped by distance, memory, and the consequences of power.
Its kingdoms are separated by more than borders. Geography, language, faith, trade, old wars, and long-held grievances have made each region distinct, while roads, rivers, coastlines, and political necessity bind them together. No nation stands alone, however strongly it may pretend otherwise.
The world still bears the scars of an ancient catastrophe whose full truth has been lost. Magic endures, but not cleanly. Its systems are strained, its histories fragmented, and its oldest powers remembered through doctrine, myth, and fear. What one culture reveres, another may condemn. What one kingdom calls history, another calls betrayal.
Yet Aëtherra is not defined only by ruin.
It is a world of dragon flights over open water, cities built into cliffs and forests, mountain roads cut through hostile country, hidden libraries, crowded markets, sacred places, forgotten roads, and landscapes shaped by both nature and human ambition. Wonder lives beside danger, and beauty often carries the weight of what came before.
At every scale, the world is lived in. Farmers, merchants, soldiers, scholars, sailors, rulers, priests, and wanderers all move within the same web of consequence. Kingdoms wage war, but ordinary people harvest fields beneath those banners. Trade routes enrich capitals while exposing distant settlements to risk. Decisions made in courts eventually reach roads, kitchens, temples, and graves.
Aëtherra is vast enough to hold mysteries beyond any single life, but intimate enough that history still turns on choices made by individuals.
That is the promise of the setting: not simply a large map, but a world where geography, politics, magic, and human lives continuously shape one another.

Book One
The Fraying Strand
The first volume of The Threnody of Embers begins in a world already under strain.
Across distant lands, three lives are forced into motion by dangers they do not yet understand. A dragonrider confronts failures within an order built to defend her kingdom. A soldier faces the cost of obedience when command and conscience divide. A scholar follows a trail of ancient knowledge into places where history has not stayed buried.
Around them, borders grow more dangerous, rival powers test old limits, and decisions made in distant halls begin to carry consequences far beyond them. Beneath every visible conflict, something more fundamental is beginning to fray.
The Fraying Strand is a story of divided loyalties, hidden histories, and the first signs that the world’s oldest systems may no longer hold.
A Nine-Book Epic
The Threnody of Embers is planned as a nine-book epic fantasy series, with each volume expanding the world, deepening its conflicts, and carrying the consequences of earlier choices forward.
The story begins with three lives in motion, but its scope reaches far beyond any single character, kingdom, or generation. As the series unfolds, distant histories begin to matter, political struggles widen, and mysteries first encountered at the edges of the story take on greater weight.
The structure is cumulative by design. Relationships change. Alliances shift. Victories create new obligations. Failures leave scars that do not disappear when one book ends. Each volume advances its own story while contributing to a larger arc whose meaning emerges over time.
That scale allows the series to move across continents, cultures, and eras without losing sight of the people carrying those histories forward. The world grows, but so does the cost of every choice made within it.
The aim is not simply to tell a longer story. It is to create the sense of a world changing across years, with consequences large enough to reshape kingdoms and intimate enough to alter the course of individual lives.
Current Status
In Development
The Fraying Strand, the first volume of The Threnody of Embers, is currently in development.
The manuscript is actively being written alongside the deeper work of building Aëtherra’s histories, languages, cultures, and geography. Updates, world notes, and occasional glimpses behind the page will be shared as the road to publication continues.
